New Autistic Research is being driven by the large number of autism cases among children of Somali immigrants living in Sweden and Minnesota.

Scientists are starting to do research on whether vitamin D could play a role in autism, including testing pregnant women to find out what their blood levels of vitamin D are. This is something that is not routinely done in office visits.

Adit Ginde, an assistant professor at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine. Ginde recommends between 1,000 to 2,000 IUs per day, calling current recommendations of 200 IUs per day outmoded.
